Russians just love Bali: Island of the Gods takes ‘Most Beautiful Island’ title
Bali has apparently captured the hearts of countless Russians.
Our island scored the winning title for most beautiful island in the 2015 Russian edition of Condé Nast Traveler.
The news was announced at a gala dinner at Moscow’s luxurious five-star Hotel Metropol on Thursday.
Bali had to beat out gorgeous destinations like Phuket, Maldives, Santorini, and Sri Lanka for the number one spot. This isn’t the first time Bali won such an honor amongst the Russian crowd—our island took the same title in 2013.
Guess that helps explain the sizable Russian expat community in Bali and the sheer amount of social media posts in Russian going around the island.
Even though Bali tops Russia’s island-inspo list, visitors from the country are sliding down to less than 100,000 arrivals as the country struggles with an economic crisis, according to Juara.
