Embezzler’s cars, motorcycles go fast — at auction
An embezzler who loved fast cars, but couldn’t outrun the authories, led to a high-dollar vehicle auction on Thursday, The Kansas City Star reports.
For sale were a fleet of fast and exotic cars and motorcycles seized from Thomas Hauk, who pleaded guilty to defrauding Assured Management Co.
of more than $4 million over the course of a decade. The sale included a
Ferrari 430 Scuderia, a Porsche 911, a McLaren MP4-12C and a garage
full of low-mileage Ducati motorcycles.
However, the hit
of Thursday’s auction was a 2006 Ford GT with just 4,500 miles on it.
The supercar sold for $285,000, not including the $17,000 buyer fee.
